Sri Kaliswari College is housed in a campus in a three-storied Palatial Building on the Sivakasi Virudhunagar Highway, at a distance of about 7 k.m from Sivakasi. Sri Kaliswari College is an Arts and Science college in South India. It has been established by the trust of the fireworks, safety matches, pyrotechnics, metal powder industries etc., Sri Kaliswari Group of Industries, Sivakasi. The college, which was started with just three courses in the year 2000-2001, now has 12 Under Graduate courses, 6 Post Graduate Courses and two Research Programmes affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University. Separate hostels for men and women with modern amenities are available in the campus. A mineral water plant is installed for drinking water. Frequent buses are available from both Virudhunagar and Sivakasi to the College. To bring the students from Virudhunagar, Srivilliputtur, Rajapalayam, Sattur, Vembakottai and Sivakasi, the college has owned a large number of buses. Sri Kaliswari Trust, comprising a team of munificent philanthropists endowed with wisdom and foresight, embarked on launching an ideal College of Arts and Science in 2000 A.D. to impart value-based higher education to the student community and to mould them to be fit for the next millennium. The Govt. of Tamilnadu in its G.O. 190 dated 07-06-2000 graciously granted its approval to start the college in the academic year 2000-2001. To begin with, the college was housed temporarily in Sivakasi town in 2000-2001 with a modest number of three courses. In just one year, massive and imposing buildings with architectural splendour sprang up at Meenakshipuram, 7 KM away from Sivakasi. The college moved to its new premises on 19 March 2001. This college is also recognised by the UGC under 2(f) dated 1-6-2006. 12b status was attained by the college on 4 October 2010. Autonomous status was conferred by UGC on 1 March 2012. Since its inception fourteen years ago, the College has crossed many milestones. It has registered phenomenal growth in terms of buildings, infrastructure and the number of courses offered. In fact, our infant college has blossomed into a Premier Institution of higher education in a short span of time. Separate hostels for boys and girls came up. A Computer Centre with the state of the art technology was installed and other Labs appeared at a rapid pace. The College Library is equipped with computer facilities. We subscribe to the latest journals in all the subjects. Bar-code system is followed in the library.Now the College offers a record number of 15 Under-graduate programmes and as many as eight Post-graduate programmes.
